Glenrock #3

Today I had my first crash on my bike. I was riding at Glenrock, Newcastle once again. After doing a few of the jumps on the short track I thought I’d make my way onto the larger trail and do the big loop. I came up to a blind corner with a bit of speed, I turned left to find myself going down a fairly steep gradient. The track was rutted and damp from the previous rain. I attempted to slow down by using my brakes however my wheels clogged up with mud and just started sliding. I managed to hold on for a bit but eventually slid into a rut which threw my balance off to the left. In a split second I went headfirst into some shrubs then WHACK hit my head/helmet on what I think was the ground. This caused me to do a front flip which was kind of smooth as I had my camel pack cushioning my back. I eventually came to a stop to find my shoe was about 2m up the hill.

Glenrock #2

I headed out to Glenrock to do some more exploring. This time I took the single track off to the left on Gun Club Rd. This was awesome. It cut its way through the bush mostly downhill with tracks going everywhere. I like these single tracks that are only as difficult depending on your speed with no hidden massive jumps. I had to stop and tighten up my disc brakes. With the right sized allen key this was no trouble and I was back riding again. I had a vague idea where I was going but it wasn’t long till I ran into other bikers. The area seemed pretty busy on the weekend. I reached the coast and stopped to take in the views then continued along a familiar track from last time. I eventually made it to some walking track and found a waterfall. I followed the walking track and had a few walkers to dodge then hit some pretty cool elevated walkways. Anyway it was a good ride but it was so humid I’ve now got a headache.
