Egg Drop Experiment

We had to design and construct a device that would allow an egg to fall from appoximately 4 metres without cracking. It had to be less than 300x300x300mm with 50% of the egg visible and the lighter weight the better. There was a huge range of different designs and some of the really complex ones failed but our simple paper tube ones worked pretty good.

The photo for this week was taken on the breakwall alongside Newcastle foreshore and Knobby’s Beach. It is a popular pathway for both young, old, prams, bikes or those people who feel inclinded to jog. I noticed this little sign painted on the tarmac and thought it was a bit more interesting than the usual scenic landscape shot although the pelican photo is pretty awesome as well…

Geocache: Mt Sugarloaf

I took Megan to the top of Mt Sugarloaf  for an introduction to geocaching and after a while eventually found the tiny cache. The cache was so small we needed to bring our own pen to sign the logbook but it was worth the trek up twice as the view is pretty awesome and I got some cool photos.
