Today the swell was really flat in Newcastle. These two keen fisherman were having a go off the rocks. There were plenty of people snorkelling and spearfishing in the same area so there must be something down there. Taken with my 300mm lens, the original colour image is a bit too much but I prefer this black & white version.

Weekly Photo #12 – Cup Cakes
My brother made these awesome cup cakes today and I reckon they were worthy of a photo. To make them look even better I took them outside to get the sunlight onto them. This also let me use a faster shutter for sharper shots at full zoom (macro).
Wow, this is photo number 12. That means I’m 3 months into the weekly photo challenge. So far, it has been quite fun and it definitely boosts your eye for photography so I’d recommend it to anyone interested in photography. At times it gets a little demanding, like when you have been slack and not used the camera for a while but that is the whole purpose of the challenge. It forces you to take photos. I like the whole idea of not taking the same photo twice, it ensures you develop some sort of creativity and learn different techniques through experimentation.
