VT: Reset Service Reminder

Every 5000km’s this annoys me and I always forget how to reset the reminder from flashing up “140 000 service” so here it is for easy reference.

Re-setting Service Reminder Light VT and VX

  1. Ignition switch OFF.
  2. Hold down the trip computer “UP” and “DOWN”, arrow buttons that control the vehicle information screen.
  3. Turn the ignition ON while holding the 2 switches down.
  4. After about 3 seconds release both buttons.
  5. Press and release the MODE switch, the “Service reminder” should appear on the instrument cluster.
  6. Press and hold both the trip computer “UP” and “DOWN”, arrow buttons until a BEEP is heard (about 3 seconds)
  7. Release both buttons and turn the ignition OFF.

Kingston USB Drive Washing Machine Adventure

Q: What happens when you leave your Kingston 8GB USB flash drive in the pocket of your jeans and it spends a couple of weeks hiding in the washing machine?

A: This. It gets rusty, very rusty.

Looks pretty bad huh? Well, good news. If you leave it out to dry for a week and give the rust a quick rub down with some wet & dry sandpaper, you’ll be back up and running in no time. Talk about durable!

I cant say whether any data on the drive prior to its little adventure in the washing machine would have been saved as there was none on mine at the time. Hmm, perhaps its time to go back in the washing machine…?
